Renowned for quaint towns and breathtaking stretches of wilderness, New Hampshire presents an array of things to do and places to explore. In fact, the Granite State is made up of such distinct areas, its Division of Travel and Tourism Development splits it into seven regions—Great North Woods, White Mountains, Lakes Region, Dartmouth/Lake Sunapee Region, Monadnock Region, Merrimack Valley, and the Seacoast—to better help residents and visitors get their arms around all that it encompasses.

The ninth state is also home to the headquarters of Medicus Healthcare Solutions, so we may be a bit biased. But if you are interested in working locum tenens in an area that offers opportunities for a little indulgence between assignments or during your downtime, consider New Hampshire. Here are just three experiences you could enjoy:

    • Sample delectable fare at the Bedford Village Inn. Critically acclaimed, it offers patrons the quintessential New England experience. The restaurant is AAA Four Diamond-rated; serves contemporary, regionally sourced cuisine; and has been lauded as “Best Fine Dining” and “Most Romantic” by New Hampshire Magazine. Scottish Salmon Fillet with Saffron and Pea Risotto, Braised Swiss Chard, and Kale and Roasted Tomato Pesto; Quinoa and Chestnut Stuffed Butternut Squash, Roasted Beet “Demi Glace,” Spinach, Local Mushrooms, and Pumpkin Seed Pesto; and Long Island Duck Breast with Brown Butter Sweet Potato Puree, Spaghetti Squash, Ginger Gastrique, and Smoked Pecans are among the offerings on the current dinner menu. Housing more than 8,000 bottles, the Inn boasts the largest wine cellar in New Hampshire. Price range: $31 to $50 per meal (Source: OpenTable).

    • Tour Lake Winnipesaukee … by air. Lakes Region Seaplane Services offers an extraordinary experience and memorable perspective of one of the state’s most stunning treasures. Glimpse Weirs Beach, Bear Island, the White Mountains, and more during an aerial tour of New Hampshire’s largest lake. Alternatively, you may sign up for the Squam Lake Seaplane Tour, which features the area beautifully captured in the Oscar-winning film On Golden Pond. Sunset flights and custom tours can be arranged as well. Standard tours are booked on a first-come, first-served basis, and while reservations are welcome, they are not required. Cost: $240 (25 minutes) for up to three passengers departing from the Seaplane Base in Laconia.

    • Tee off at Mount Washington Resort Golf Club. Voted the “Best Course You Can Play in New Hampshire” by Golfweek magazine several years in a row, the Mount Washington Resort Golf Club has been a favorite among golf enthusiasts for more than a century. Through the Omni Mount Washington Resort’s Rest and Recreation Package, guests can enjoy luxurious accommodations; 18 holes of golf, with a cart, on the recently restored Donald Ross-designed, award-winning championship course; and lunch at The Grille, May through October. Cost at writing: from $419 per night in May for a European room (1 Queen-size bed) for up to two guests, subject to availability.
