A renowned children’s hospital in Florida, operating as the largest Level 1 pediatric trauma facility within a 3-hour radius, faced instability due to retirement and unexpected provider turnover among their pediatric anesthesiologists. Despite relying on multiple locum tenens agencies to for coverage, the agencies were unsuccessful in delivering the number of pediatric anesthesiologists needed to ensure continuity of care. In response, the hospital sought new staffing strategies and turned to The Medicus Transition Program for support in bridging their gaps in coverage.
