Every year from October 6-12, the American Academy of Physicians Assistants invites everyone to join in the celebration of National PA Week! This annual event is a tribute to the unwavering dedication of Physician Assistants who consistently go above and beyond for their patients at every stage of their healthcare journey. In doing so, they play a pivotal role in reshaping and elevating the healthcare landscape.
This year's National PA Week theme, "PAs Go Beyond," emphasizes their dedication to prioritizing patients, fostering collaboration, and advocating relentlessly in all healthcare scenarios.
Physician Assistants By Work Setting
PAs work in a variety of medical specialties, including primary care, emergency medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and others. Today, there are approximately 168,300 certified PAs in the United States working in a variety of healthcare settings.
- 52.5% work in an outpatient clinic or physician's office.
- 36.4% work in hospitals.
- 6% work in urgent care centers.
- 5.1% work in a variety of settings, including schools/universities, rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes, and correctional facilities.
